ICCARE-Lab: two winning projects for an immersive dive into the past

Published: 03/10/2026

Isabelle Paresys and Pauline Triplet attended the programming committee meeting for the Cultural and Creative Industries Research Program (PEPR ICCARE) to present two winning projects from the ICCARE-Lab call for small projects.

A closer look at the supported projects:
- CA-LICE-Num (Isabelle Paresys): An immersive 3D experience of the Camp de la Lice, an iconic site for the tournaments held during the Field of the Cloth of Gold (1520), where the courts of England and France met. A digital reconstruction that brings to life a key moment in European history.
- INSULA (Pauline Triplet): A visual and sound reconstruction of the Lille market square in 1448, allowing users to relive an ordinary day, June 12th, through their senses. A journey through time at the crossroads of history and technology.

These projects, developed within the Research Federation for Visual Sciences and Cultures, demonstrate how research in the humanities and social sciences and new technologies (3D, virtual reality, modeling) can combine to reinvent cultural mediation and make heritage accessible.

A wonderful showcase for innovation in visual cultures! Congratulations to Isabelle and Pauline!
And a special thank you to PEPR ICCARE for its support of these ambitious projects.
